Use technology like the APAF – Record

The final of the League Cup will be the first game in Portugal to resort to technology in the goal-line, a help that is welcome and the Portuguese Football Referees Association (APAF ) would like to see more games.

“It’s a final, so a one-off situation, but hope there conditions to then continue to use the technology. It’s a help for the referees. During the championships there are always two or three situations in which it is in doubt whether the ball goes in or not. I hope that this first time is done in order to resolve doubts. Only then can we know if its use will be a advantage, “said Jose Gomes, president of APAF, the Record .

Hawk Eye or GoalControl 4D are the two available systems, both based in chambers near the goal posts, and according to José Gomes is indifferent to choose. “I think the League itself has already decided, since its implementation will take some time. But I think it does not matter. The international referees have had this experience, are prepared,” he said.
