Final with technology to use

Objective is to provide national tools evidence that increase the quality of football.

goal-line technology will be used for the first time in Portugal final of the League Cup at a meeting scheduled for May 29, which puts forward the Benfica and Marítimo front, in the City of Coimbra Stadium.

The national debut of GLT tests (Technology Line Goal) – a system that allows the referee confirmed, by technological means, if it crossed or not the goal line – was yesterday confirmed by the League, in a statement.

The body led by Luís Duque also said that will appeal to other systems in the future. “The League of Portugal intends to introduce in the coming times, other types of technologies in order to provide professional tools competitions to increase the quality of football in the country,” he says.

The League recalls that the GLT system was used successfully during the 64 matches of the Brazil World Cup in 2014 and the major European leagues have started to adopt it in its competitions, including the English and German.
