Goal of technology: the revolution came to Portugal – More Football

May 29, final of the League Cup: the day the technological revolution arrives in Portuguese football. The decision is made, confirmed and will make Benfica-Maritime, in the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra, a historical game.

For the first time in an official game in our country , the referees (and teams) are offered a Technology Goal. The system has been used since 2013 in the Premier League, and was in Brazil’s World Cup and the Club World Cup in 2014.

João Martins, Executive Board Member of the League Portugal, conductor body of professional football, ensures the “total reliability ‘ this tool.

“We are talking about a system that involves the installation of 14 cameras in the stadium roof, seven in each of the beacon” , says, speaking to TVI, the leader.

The general public is already aware of the features of the mechanism, but João Martins gives some more data: whenever the ball transpose the goal-line – in full – a device, like a clock, vibrate on the pulse of all elements of the refereeing team.

“It is exactly like the system used in the World Cup in Brazil and the FIFA Club World Cup. The supplier is the same, alias “, continues João Martins from Portugal League, before identifying the major problem the spread of Goal Technology for other national competitions.

“It has a very high cost, but we would like to implement this and other technologies in our competitions” .

João Martins refers, specifically, to the video referee, a possibility not yet been accepted by FIFA and the International Board. The resistance of these structures is not, however, echoed in the Portuguese arbitration ensures the head of the League. “The referees have accepted very well these new ideas” .

An opinion confirmed by José Fontelas Gomes, president of APAF, a colloquium held last Friday in the House of Arts in Famalicão. “We welcome with open arms anything that might decrease the error” .

England, yes, but also Germany and France

The Premier League has been an excellent laboratory for the implementation of Goal Technology [Goal Line Technology ]. Last Monday, once again, a flight of difficult analysis turned out to be well decided by such vibrating the device / clock refereeing team.
After a left cross, Gomis (Swansea) headed to score Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Ospina touched the ball but not stopped completely entered. As, indeed, the images and the Goal of Technology came to prove.

The game ended with a 0-1 defeat to Arsenal and that goal came after 85 minutes.

Germany and France, and Portugal will be the next countries to adopt the goal line technology. In Germany, the premiere will take place one day after the end of the Portuguese League Cup. Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg will be privileged to be the guinea pigs in the final of the German Cup .

France goes further and from season 2015/16, including the Goal of Technology will be present in all matches in Ligue 1 . The Italian Serie A and the Bundesliga should precisely follow the same steps.

The general impression is that the majority of sports agents applaud the entry of technology as a complementary means of arbitration.

Some of the best coaches in the world agree , high-ranking FIFA too to influential Pierluigi Collina not demonstrates tip of prejudice.

The best argument, common to all, is simple: no one is willing to do errors of this gravity when they can be eradicated easily.
