MatériasIndústria automobile industry embraces the technology – Digital Look

increasingly, they go together: cars and technology. In 2016, the automobile industry entered a time to the digital era. Because, between us, if you do not do this, was going to end up falling behind, as many of the giants of the technology industry have already shown great appetite for the segment.

With this, we have seen traditional brands of the 4 wheels, embracing ideas that were born in Silicon Valley. The highlight for autonomous cars, of course. Almost all manufacturers have their projects to get the human behind the wheel.

Google has continued expanding its plans in this direction. Now, at the end of the year, the giant has announced the creation of an entire enterprise exclusively dedicated to your project of autonomous cars. She was christened Waymo and soon it tried to announce a partnership with Chrysler.

Also, Apple decided to position itself more clearly and say that, yes, has concrete plans for the sector. Just not detailed very much what plans are these.

While all of this was happening, on the streets of Filadéfia, Uber put its autonomous cars to take passengers. For now, a driver is going along, to act in case of the unexpected. In any case, the idea is there and gaining speed.

The most optimistic forecasts indicate that from 2020 we will have autonomous cars circulating in the streets at least in the developed countries. Is to wait and see.

Perspective on Technology to 2017 – Glasses VR – Globo.com

the Audience uses óglasses Samsung Gear VR on the groundônia lançdepartment of the new smartphone S7 and S7 edge in the Mobile Congress World in Barcelona, Spain
The idea is not new, because surely the fans of the trilogy “Back to the Future” will remember the scene in which the son of Marty McFly appears using a kind of glasses of the future for watching videos in 3D. And after 25 years we can say that the film of Steven Spielberg predicted a technology that in this year already no longer considered emergent, and is my main bet for 2017.

The devices with support for virtual reality (VR) has received investing millions in research and development on the part of the giants of the Silicon Valley. Recently Microsoft announced a partnership with HP, Dell, Lenovo, Asus and Acer for the creation of a device of virtual reality for PCs. Virtual reality is not limited to entertainment and games, it is present in marketing, communications, live broadcasts on to social networks, streaming services, education, even in applications for meditation. The market for virtual reality has the potential to be expanded as a tool for accessibility, and can provide greater interaction for persons with special needs.

THE HBO NOW has already announced support for the Google Daydream – device successor the more advanced of the Google Cardboard, which has a glasses VR, and a control to navigate in apps or games. Soon Netflix will also be supported by the platform. Youtube has also announced an app developed for the Google Daydream. Through it is possible to view all your content in an immersive experience. Youtube VR displays the videos in a kind of virtual theater within the application.

A pair of glasses VR can be manufactured by hand from a design cardboard combined with special lenses, and a smartphone with the app Google Cardboard installed, or can cost thousands of dollars depending on the model. It is evident that a homemade version will not provide the same experience in the immersion into the world of virtual reality, compared with the market-leading products, but will it be enough to demonstrate the potential of the technology and allow its popularization.

The startup that it is connected to the Catholic Church to the technology – business Newspaper (press release)

it Was two years ago that came up with the idea to modernise the interaction of the people catholic with the Churches and the Sanctuaries of the Catholics. Name Candla, this startup developed in the form of application you want, on the one hand, to unite the Portuguese to the Catholic community and, on the other, to allow tourists to have access to the map of the nearby Churches where they are. This application is working since July.

But how did the Candla? João Pessoa Costa, co-founder of the startup, confesses that he always wanted to create a project of your own. The opportunity arose in New York, when John and his partner at the time also a colleague, during the MBA, have been to mass. "We thought about how we could extend the relationship with that church," says John, adding that they began to see that "applications were already related to the church." Any application that allowed this connection between a person and the Church, always had to ask for the interaction of a Saint, has been detected. So, John and the partner saw the opportunity to launch the Candla in the market.

"we Started by assembling a prototype, which was just a plastic box with a light inside, connected to a app completely the primary, on the phone. When we arrived in Lisbon, we started working on this prototype with the University of Aveiro, who gave us tremendous support. In fact, it was through the University that we know of a startup based in Aveiro, which developed our first prototype. We grabbed the box and drive us to a Priest from the Catholic University of Lisbon, asking him what would be the feasibility of we can implement the project in a church. The Father thought the idea was spectacular, and the innovative, and from there, we started to develop the box, making it more professional," said the founder of the StartUp.

With the support of the Father, Mário Rui, present in the parishes of St Nicholas and st Mary Magdalene, hired a designer and have developed a model of velário of the root, which does not collide with the Church, this fits both in a modern Church, as in a more traditional.

it Is with satisfaction that John refers to the Father Mário Rui as "a Priest fantastic, super committed, modern and completely open to everything that is new technologies", adding that, the fact that the Father already had four churches under his jurisdiction, allowed them "to have, immediately, a capillary is large, and in particular, churches are significant: the Church of the Conceição Velha, the St. Nicholas, the Santa Maria maddalena and the Church of the Victory" in Lisbon, by choosing next, from the beginning, in the first three mentioned.

Materials such as acrylic, and metals more noble were used in the development of the velários electric and although it has enhanced the product, made all the difference. Currently, they have 30 velários implemented in most of the Churches in Lisbon. Are in negotiations at the Port, in contact with Braga and, at the same time, close to Madrid, to align the entry into Rome, and think about expanding to Latin America, because "brazilians have a predilection natural to everything that is technology and the Church, so the two together makes perfect sense".

Want to join the initiative? To begin with it is necessary to make the download of app available in IOS or Android. To make the download appear in the Churches mapped, depending on the proximity. After you are offered three candles, which can be used simultaneously or separate. When a candle is lit, the application reverts a pagela real-time, where it is possible to pray to the Holy chosen. After the use of the free, it is possible to make the uploads. Each candle has a cost of 99 cents.

This design is available in the Churches of St. Nicholas, Santa Maria Madalena da Conceição Velha, São Domingos, São Cristovão, of the Martyrs, the Sacrament of the Incarnation, Santa Isabel, Santo António, Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Santa Maria de Belém (Jerónimos), Our Lady of the immaculate Conception and the Church of St. John of God. The Shrines of Fatima, the Door Opened and the Bom Jesus of Braga also joined the Candla.

The start-up of the Portuguese that was born in Braga combines the technology with the electronic music. The Wondering is a pioneer in the development and marketing of audio technology in Portugal and has conquered the world.

One of their projects of choice is the Harp Laser, an instrument in the shape of a harp that replaces the strings by laser beams that when interrupted with the passage of the hand, emits sound synthesized by the DRC, allowing to create melodies.

The Harp Laser was initially developed as an installation of the White Night Braga 2015, in the framework of the initiative Labs in the Summer, promoted by the gnration. During 12 hours the Harp was one of the great attractions of the night, where hundreds of people, mainly children, were delighted with the apparatus light and sound.

The Harp Laser is in fact one of the projects of Imagining that came by the hand of Nuno Santos, founder and CEO of this start up but it is not the only product of the company. This entrepreneur has always had particular interest in the area of music electronic, there are already more than 17 years of age when he met his friends Rui Antunes and Bruno Brandão and they used the computer to create electronic music with the programs that existed at the time: Reason, Fruity Loops (now FL Studio), Cubase, Ableton Live (more later). All of this at the time of the phone most popular was the NOKIA 3310.

In search of a dream

Since this time the dream’s electronic music was. Later Nuno would end up studying engineering Systems and Computing, and Rui Sound engineering. Bruno, an economist and businessman by profession and passionate about music, he always had the latest trends of the market in your car to roll. Before the responsibilities of academic, music was the great passion that was turning the world of these young people. Making music, playing it and at the same time, to promote events of the electronic music.

Between completing their studies and start working, the music began for the second plan, and the technology took account of the life of Nuno, having been an active part in the development of the technology from DISPLAX, currently exporting at the global level of multitouch technology of the last generation.

With the advent of mobile devices, Nuno, that slowly came back to devote energies to the music producing increasingly with the software Ableton Live, has decided to recover an old project: to create a remote controller for this software. The first version of this controller would go out to the market in December 2011. Two years later, in May 2014, He starts a new chapter of his life, Wondering.

the beginning of The Wonder marks the return of a great dream, to combine the technology with the music. In addition to the LIVKONTROL, the company is betting on the creation of a new product, TKFX, a remote controller for the software TRAKTOR, widely used by djs all over the world. After the TKFX, was the adaptation of his first software, the LIVKONTROL in LK.

Since the first day that the Wonder invested in the universality of its solutions, creating software that works simultaneously on iOS and Android, as well as on smartphone and tablet. The technologies that will mark 2017 (and subsequent years) – Public.en

The technology may not change the world from one year to the other. The personal computers took a long time to get out of the labs, academia and the circles of enthusiasts, and it took years to settle in most homes and offices. The Internet was invented over four decades ago, but only began the mass at the end of the decade of 1990.

The year of 2016, he gave examples of some of the technological transformations in the course. Amazon has made deliveries with drones, a truck of beer led alone by the main highways, an augmented reality game won fans all over the world. Are trends that started in 2016, and that does not bring abrupt changes in 2017, but that are slowly shaping the way we consume, work, and interact with each other and manage the day to day life.

Butler digital

At the end of this year, it was revealed what has been presented as a project of Mark Zuckerberg: a personal digital assistant, able to delete the lights, open the door to people you know, turn on the toaster and speak with the voice of actor Morgan Freeman. In an interview, the founder of the social network stated that it has developed the wizard (named Jarvis) for the sake of challenge. The system is not part of the plans of Facebook and would not work in another house than to Zuckerberg.

Taking the voice of Freeman, Jarvis is not unique. The Google launched this year Google Home, a wizard that is able to play music on demand (linked to services such as Spotify and YouTube), give information about the user’s schedule, the weather and the traffic, and to interact with household equipment such as the lights or the tv. Amazon had already launched a similar product in 2015. And this kind of assistants is available there is a lot in mobile phones.

The artificial intelligence is a vast field, with applications ranging from industry to the armies. Today, by the hands of some of the most influential companies in the world, begins to enter in the houses.

The virtual reality is a promise made of old that is now captivating consumers CHARLES PLATIAU/REUTERS

virtual Reality

virtual reality is a promise the former, but is only now beginning to wake up the interest of consumers.

The game Pokémon Go was the first major success of what is called augmented reality: the digital images which overlap the real world, in this case through the camera of million mobile phones. Already Sony has released for this holiday season, the PlayStation VR, a virtual reality glasses to be used with the console of the company. The chinese manufacturer Huawei also presented this year to your glasses, that compete with those of Samsung, and Oculus Rift (a company of Facebook) debuted in March with your model.

By now, the sales are relatively low, but the analyst IDC estimates that the market for virtual and augmented reality, which in 2016 will have been about five thousand million of euros, grow 181% per year until the end of the decade, which includes the market of appliances for professional use.

Machines workers

The year kicked off with a World Forum of Davos to give more questions than answers about the work in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. Finished off with Amazon launching a pilot programme of deliveries with drones in the United Kingdom. According to the multinational, with the first delivery (a package of popcorn) came into the hands of the buyer just 13 minutes after being ordered – no driver human to be able to do to get in such a short space of time.

With intelligent robots, lines of assemblies, automated, boxes of supermarket where it is the client who registers the purchases and cars that may dispense with conductors, there are millions of jobs at risk. But this happens not only with the type of jobs that do not require academic qualifications.

The automatic translations, for example, are increasingly competent, although still far from a professional translator. This year, scientists from Google said they have developed technology that, in the case of some pairs of languages, reduces between 55% and 85% of the mistakes made by the previous system of the company. This month, Microsoft has made an update for your application translation. The technology allows you to use a mobile phone to translate that is to say, making the translation appear on the screen of the other participants in the conversation. In some cases, the application is able to "speak" in the language desired.

Also in medicine, the technology is entering areas that until recently were exclusively human. The Watson, a powerful artificial intelligence system of IBM, began to participate in contests on tv, but is now making medical diagnoses, and sometimes the conclusions that had escaped the doctors. The computer is able to analyze the medical records of patients, relevant scientific literature, and compare a case with millions of others.

No hands on the steering wheel

The cars able to drive alone are not yet around the corner, but approaching at great speed. Electric cars Tesla have a way of auto-pilot (which has already failed with fatal consequences). Several manufacturers have demonstrated the technology is almost ready. Google has little cars without steering wheel to move on the roads of the USA. The Uber has done pilot experiments with cars autonomous in the United States (for now, got problems with the authorities for some vehicles to have passed signals at red). In October, 50 thousand beers left in the history as the first payload delivered by a truck to stand-alone. The vehicle was Otto, a subsidiary of Uber.

So that the cars stand-alone are the rule on the roads have yet to resolve legal problems, and overcome ethical challenges. For example, the car must protect the passengers at all cost or you must go against a wall if it means saving a larger number of lives of pedestrians?

Solve this puzzle is not to say that everyone will have a car stand-alone garage. The Uber has already admitted that it wants to compete with the need of own car. It is not difficult to imagine a future in which a fleet of cars autonomous is at the distance of a mobile application.
