SP government will launch tender to hire technology to clean … – Yahoo News Brazil

The Secretary of Energy of São Paulo, João Carlos Meirelles, said on Tuesday, 05, the Metropolitan Company of Water and Energy (Emae) should launch later this month for an edict hiring technologies to be used in a clean-up project of the Pinheiros River. The new public call is the resumption of the idea of the state government to clean the river, a paralyzed model since 2011 after warnings made by the prosecution that the flotation process (waste separation process) was not succeeding.

“was attempted last flotation technique, but what we are doing now is an edict to identify the best technologies in the world,” Meirelles said. “We want a transparent process in which we will have the best techniques in the world, and whose term will depend on just the technology adopted,” added the Secretary of Energy, who attended the Forum GD & Cogeneration – Starting a new development cycle, organized by the Association of Industry Energy Cogeneration (Cogen) and CanalEnergia.

The cleaning of the Pinheiros River, explains Meirelles, should also result in improved water quality in the Tiete River and the Billings dam, and ensure full operation of the hydroelectric plant Henry Borden. “The project will gradually clean up the Pinheiros and Billings, as put best quality in the dam water, will release over 10 cubic meters per second for human consumption and will also provide in return the maximum generation of Henry Borden,” he pointed Meirelles .

The plant, with installed capacity of 889 MW and is available to produce approximately 400 MW, currently generates only 34 MW, according to the secretary. The restriction is precisely explained by the pollution of the Pinheiros River waters. “We are equipped, because we have the seasons of Betrayal and quarry. What we need is one or a few technologies to be applied in the Pines, since this process (cleaning) should be done along the river,” he said.
