Chinese accused of espionage for stealing technology … north – Observer

Six Chinese citizens, including three university professors, are being accused of espionage for stealing technology to benefit universities and companies controlled by Beijing.

Zhang Hao and Pang Wei, professors at the University of Tianjin, have planned to steal FBAR technology, wireless device that allows you to filter unwanted signals mobile phones and other devices. The two teachers, and a group of Chinese allegedly created an FBAR production company in Tianjin.

John Carlin, lawyer Assistant US National Security, argues that university professors who “obtained illegally “technology,” shared the secrets with the Chinese Government to gain economic advantage, “according to statements to the Washington Post. “The economic espionage imposes large costs on American businesses. Weaken the global market and destroy US interests around the world, “said Carlin.

Hao Zhang, 36 and graduated in engineering at the University of Southern California, was arrested on Saturday May 16 at Los Angeles International Airport. Flew from China to the United States to attend a conference. Zhang and Wei Pang, 35, were to lead a search on FBAR, English Thin-film bulk acoustic resonator, a technology sponsored by the Department of American Defense.

The Chinese economic espionage has been a concern for the US government. It is suspected that the scheme has started about a decade. In 2006, Zhang, Pang and his alleged co-conspirators began to develop a business plan, starting to apply partnerships with Chinese universities interested in FBAR technology.

If the six accused are convicted, esperam- severe sentences them, as the US courts guard serious consequences for espionage cases.
