The final of the League Cup, between Benfica and Marítimo, was marked by a historic moment, with the introduction for the first time in Portugal, the goal-line technology, which would serve as an aid for referees in decision more complicated moves.
However, the machine turned out to have little work, since all the goals were undisputed, with the ball in and to hit the back of the net. Still, the tone in the referee’s clock worked, and was shown the picture to illustrate the point where the ball crossed the goal line.
