Qualcomm and Daimler test wireless charging technology – Bitmag

Famous for developing and manufacturing chipsets for smartphones and tablets, the US Qualcomm search quick and effective charging batteries for years and now joins forces with German group owner of Mercedes-Benz in order to develop a system that allow faster and more efficient cargo safely.

Both the agreement announced on Saturday during the day of testing at the Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1. The partnership wants to explore wireless charging of electric cars, in addition to energy supply in smartphones these cars, also via wireless technology. Qualcomm’s commitment to succeed in this harvest already appears on some phones with Qualcomm chipsets, which already can, for example, almost 80% recharge the battery in just one hour, as the second generation of Moto X, Motorola.

The race to develop efficient batteries and chargers comes at a time in which technology and motoring industries want to unlock the use of electric vehicles, as they never become popular precisely because of the difficulty in loading the car quickly and with wide range of use without the integrity of energy banks were compromised.

The measure of both companies is part of an effort to companies like Mercedes own and their German rivals BMW and Audi acquire expertise in software and telecommunications, so that vehicles of future generations to use high-tech items in pollutant emissions close to zero, in engines that need to be increasingly diminished, with greater energy efficiency.

On a joint statement, Daimler and Qualcomm reported that evaluate the implementation of wireless technology to charge their vehicles 100% electric and hybrid engines – called the Plug-in Hybrid cars Mercedes-Benz Blue Efficiency – engines that mix the liquid fuel and electricity , the latter, which absolve the recharge in a voltaic source, since the relationship between acceleration, braking and deceleration, take care to fill the power seat motor.

“It is important that we remain at the forefront of technology and continue to offer experiences not yet known, so innovative for all our customers, “said council member of the research and development of Daimler, Thomas Weber, the ESPN sports channel during the European Grand Prix. She added, “With this in mind, we look forward to jointly explore possible areas of future cooperation with a leading international technology company such as Qualcomm.”
