The Toyota Motor said it had reached an agreement with Ford Motor to explore a collaboration for the implementation of SmartDeviceLink technology (SDL) of Ford vehicles in their next Toyota and Lexus.
The SDL is a open platform that integrates smartphone apps vehicles by buttons on the panels, screens and voice recognition technology.
The Toyota is engaged in the design and SDL investigating more partnerships with Ford and its subsidiary Livio, sponsor of SmartDeviceLink software design, said Ford in a statement.
“The automotive applications market is growing rapidly. Developing robust connection services, flexible, safe and friendly is a priority for us,” said the Toyota said in a statement on Wednesday (3).
