The focus on Innovation and Technology is an important step in the renewal of the dynamics of value creation in the Portuguese economy. In deep time of international crisis, with most sectors faced with lack of recovery prospects, boosting this project is key to the future, based on a new bet on the available talent. The Innovation and Technology, as an innovative base of integrated projects turn out to be an important test of the ability to find new solutions associated with the Knowledge and Innovation, creating conditions for a new bet for the future. Innovation and Technology – two challenges that are here to stay!
Different actors (Municipalities, Universities, Business Associations, etc.) play a central role in promoting innovative solutions for the Technology and Creativity. The example of the North, too focused on the dynamics of actors as the Serralves Foundation, House of Music, universities and other entities here to stay. Lack now the rest of the country. It is a movement of “basic clustering” of civil society, in a logic of “collective efficiency” in the region’s ability to assert capabilities in a more global logic comes up. The strategic objectives of enhancing dimension for the future in these projects are clearly a test sample to the effective capacity of the territories to “grab” the challenge of competitiveness of a structured and coherent manner.
The success of Innovation and Technology is important for the country’s future. It is a goal that is not realized merely by decree. It is essential that civil society Grab convinced shape this thing and make the creation of these “New Competitiveness platforms” true collective strategic investment for years to come. What is really at issue in all this is the assumption by the country of a real strategic plan to change the latest evolution model of development and to implement new projects for Innovation and Competitiveness across the country, establishing that way wealth and talents which otherwise tend to focus solely on the great metropolis.
Betting on Integrated Projects like these means so take seriously the commitment of a new development model. In this context, the question then arises – how it should be operationalized innovation and technology throughout the territory? They are known in this field several international experiences, ranging from the US known Italian model, through the consolidated organization model in recent years in Spain, through the Autonomous Regions. There are no universal solutions and must be careful in this regard the particular specificity of our country and the core competencies at its disposal in order to be able to invest in a suitable solution for the future.
The Role of Foreign Direct Investment of Innovation, in conjunction with universities and other competence centers, will be decisive in this area and the state will be up the ineluctable mission to regulate rigorously and strategic sense. But the secret key will be in local capacity to make a difference. The different actors (municipalities, universities, business associations) have to know how to develop a real “strategic pact” for the future of its territory. And the options will have to be clearly assumed. Therefore, it is necessary that the Innovation and Technology becomes a reality all over the country.
