BMW bets on technology and luxury in the new 7 Series – Globo.com

The BMW showed on Wednesday (10) the new generation 7 Series, which invests in technology to redefine the concept of luxury in the segment. The main new features are automatic parking by remote control, laser lights and multimedia system controlled by hand gestures.

The model, which goes on sale in Europe in October, is one of the first in series that can be controlled without anyone at the wheel. Just press a command from the key to the vehicle entering or leaving a garage or vague.

The laser lights, fitted electric supercar i8 for the first time also appear on a larger scale in the 7 Series as well as the 3D sensor that recognizes the driver’s hand gestures to control media center functions (audio volume, receive and end calls). You can still define new gestures for specific functions to the owner’s taste.

The body uses a new compound of plastic reinforced with carbon, combined with aluminum and steel, which allowed a 130 kg weight reduction compared the previous generation. The adaptive air suspension is standard on all versions.

The engine range will have V8 options and 6-cylinder, combined with a new automatic 8-speed transmission. For those who want to be more “green”, there will be a hybrid version with petrol engine of 4 cylinders and an electric, which together generate 326 horsepower.

The optional Executive Lounge package will add air conditioning 4 zones, all ventilated seats and adjustable rear electronically with massage, plus a 7-inch tablet to control entertainment functions.

“Just this balance between cutting-edge technology, connectivity and comfort is our modern luxury vision, “said Harald Krüger, chairman of the BMW AG board.
