The technology that wants to revolutionize road safety – Observer

The Samsung is developing a solution for that run less risk the next time you make an overtaking the command of a steering wheel. The company is betting on a concept that allows the driver following behind a truck have more control of what goes on the road where it circulates. How? Installing a wireless camera in front of the respective truck, which is then connected to a screen housed in the rear of the vehicle – the project aims to encourage road safety and was baptized, in the nick of Truck Safety (“truck insurance” in Portuguese).

The idea allows those who follow behind a large vehicle safely calculate the time required to perform an overtaking, and help anticipate braking and collisions taking account of unexpected obstacles on the road (for example, dead animals). For now, everything is just a prototype

In the blog of the brand, Samsung explains that the technology in question. – Claiming to be able to revolutionize road safety – works and “can definitely save lives to many people. ” And to emphasize the lack of security when driving, still gives as an example the statistics on road accidents in Argentina, a country where a person dies every hour that passes.

The initiative is, however, not new . The El País writes that the designer Russian Art Lebedev was the first to think of the concept. However, the big question refers to whether the project has or not economically viable on a large scale, especially considering the companies owning the vehicles – the Spanish daily also says that in the United States are sold only 267,000 lorries of this kind a year.
