Innovative technology promises to transform ‘any object’ in … – Globo.com

Scientists at Columbia University, US, have created a technology to turn any object in a rotating puzzles in the style of magic cube. For the “joke” happens they have a software, plus a scanner and a 3D printer. The difficulty is in finding the perfect cut into complex shapes, such as a rabbit, for example, so that all parts move freely. The result promises “magic squares” even more exciting.

A device that creates 3D objects can overcome traditional printers

The first step to start the game is to read the object with a 3D scanner . With the graphical model on the computer, the program lets the user choose where and how it is cropped, which defines how the parties will run against each other.

What is the use to buy a 3D printer? Have your say on TechTudo Forum.

The software then automatically adjusts the position of the pieces so that they can rotate with minimal collision . To ensure that the puzzle works, it can also change the 3D model as shrinking the ears of a rabbit or changing the angle of the tail of a doll.

After the schema magic cube is ready, the invention takes on parts parts “real” hinges with grooves so that they can be mounted. There just print everything with 3D printers and have fun. . The software license can be purchased from the University and its developers, Timothy Sun and Zheng Changxi
