US wants to “covenant” with technology companies on behalf of … – Observer

The Department of Security of the United States said on Tuesday it will open an office in Silicon Valley (California), to strengthen collaboration with technology companies, electronic and computer located in the region. “We want to strengthen relations in Silicon Valley and ensure that the Government and the private sector have mutual benefits of research they perform,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, in San Francisco.

The same official said an “alliance” between the government and technology companies around the “cyber security”, recalling that the fight against cyber attacks on the Internet is one of the US President priorities. However, Jen Johnson did not give details of the plans of the White House in this presence in Silicon Valley.

The technology companies have maintained a certain distance from the US administration, especially after the revelations of former Edward Snowden computer, which revealed the massive surveillance plans of the intelligence services to Americans and citizens of other countries. Recently, companies like Apple and Google started to take action to encode information that their users save especially on devices like mobile phones and ‘tablets’.
