Technology developed in Coimbra company integrates mission … – View

Coimbra, April 6 (AFP) – A technology developed by Active Space Technologies (AST), a company located in Taveiro, Coimbra, will integrate a scientific mission to the planet Mercury developed by the European and Japanese space agencies and scheduled for January 2017 .

According to information provided by the company today, the technology in question has recently been integrated into the three spacecraft of the BepiColombo mission, in development by the Japanese partner, and will analyze the sodium levels of the atmosphere of the planet mercury.

“It was one of the first prototypes we developed for space missions in 2006 and it is very gratifying to see our technology to be finally integrated in this phase of the mission,” said in news release, Ricardo Patrick , head of Active Space Technologies.
