BB Foundation aims R $ 600 thousand to 8 Social Technology Award – EBC

The Bank of Brazil Foundation (FBB) is receiving applications for the 8th Award for Social Technology, which this year will allocate £ 600,000 to 18 experiments already implemented and running with effective solutions to social demands. The award is given in partnership with Petrobras, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The application deadline is 31 May, and may apply for any award technological activities – at local, regional or national level – contributing to effective solutions on issues related to water, food, education, energy, income generation, housing, environment and health

To be eligible all non-profit institutions, public or private, legally constituted in the country as cooperatives, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), governments, associations, foundations, research institutes and universities, according to the Regulation and the manual, which can be accessed by site www.fbb.org.br/tecnologiasocial.

The novelty in this year’s awards is the inclusion of the category Social Technologies for Urban Environment. Until the previous edition were only the categories Traditional Communities, Family Farmers and Settlers of Agrarian Reform, Youth, Women, Public Managers and Universities and Institutions of Education and Research. Of the three finalists experience of each of the six categories, the winner will receive US $ 50,000 and the other two will take £ 25,000 each.

The registered projects undergo a screening process that includes the steps certification, finalist selection, judgment of the winners and award, subject to the criteria and parameters established in the Regulation Prize. In seven editions held from 2001 to 2013 were granted more than US $ 3 million to the improvement of the winning social technologies through projects submitted to the FBB.

All certified initiatives became part of the Bank Social Technologies (BTS) of FBB -. a database online that brings together recognized methodologies for promoting the resolution of problems common to several Brazilian communities, which currently has 696 registered technologies

These technologies can be found on the topic, executing agency, target audience, region, unit of the Federation or other search parameters. The information covers the problem solved, the solution adopted, the form of community involvement, municipalities served, resources needed for implementation and contacts, among other details.
