Former president of the Foundation for Science and Technology failed to … – The Online Borders

The awarded one of the highest monetary value premiums in health in Portugal – Grand Prix Bial Medicine – worth 200 thousand euros, missed today, due to illness (according to the justification), the premium allocation session, in Coimbra, in the presence of the President, and the Education and Health Ministers. Miguel Seabra, who was, until yesterday (when asked demisão) president of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), did not attend the ceremony, represented by the most senior researcher of his team, José Ramalho.

At the time, the president of the Bial Foundation, Luis Portela, said the Bial prize, awarded every two years will keep up with regulation and similar premium amounts, with António Sousa Guerreiro as a future president of the jury. In this edition, the jury was chaired by Catherine Resende de Oliveira, coordinator of neuroscience consortium of Coimbra (CNC / IBILI).

At the ceremony held at the Pole II, Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra, chaired by Cavaco Silva, highlighted the respective research, called “The discovery of the gene to gene therapy in 20 years: the case of choroideremia, a hereditary retinal degeneration.”
