Mobile phone batteries charge in 1 minute – Morning Post

Aluminum will compete with lithium batteries.

 By JS

Your phone takes too long to load?

An aluminum battery recharges in one minute, is flexible and will not burn. These are the main positives that researchers at Stanford University in the US found compared to lithium batteries currently used in gadgets .

The innovation in these batteries is that they use Also graphite, a component that produces sufficient voltage even after multiple loadings. It turns out that, for now, the researchers were only able to develop a power of 2 volts, less than half that of conventional batteries smartphone s. The team of Stanford, is a matter of time before to achieve greater voltage.

This is a better alternative to the existing battery, “ how alkaline batteries, which are bad for the environment, and lithium batteries, which sometimes catch fire,” said Hongjie Dai, the researcher led the project. In addition, aluminum is much cheaper than lithium.

The prototype uses a third element (which is not explained what it is), in addition to aluminum and graphite, which is more expensive, but the team is developing ways to lower the cost of production. “Our battery has everything else you can dream: cheap electrodes, security, high speed loading, flexibility and long life cycle,” concludes Hongjie Dai
