Municipal Science and Technology Week starts on Monday – Globo.com

From this Monday (13) happens to 9th Municipal Science and Technology Week, promoted by the Municipality of Recife. More than 2000 students from municipal schools will participate in activities that include guided visits to the Pier Museum Hinterland Luiz Gonzaga, Botanical Garden and Fort of Brum.

The opening will be at the Training Centre of Teacher Educators Paulo Freire, in the Magdalena district, in the north of Recife at 9am. At the time, 500 children will be received by the NAO (“brains” in Chinese), humanoid robots that are part of the Robotics Program at the School of municipal and will act as masters of ceremony.

The goal the event is to encourage discussion about the city combining fun and knowledge at various points in Recife. The program will continue until Thursday (16), except the fourth (15), the Teacher’s Day holiday.

In addition to the guided tour of the museums and other cultural venues such as the Palace of Frevo, students also participate in workshops producing videos with stop motion techniques, ecological trail in the Botanical Garden of Recife, catamaran ride and the streets of Bairro do Recife, polo technology in the state. The Space Science will also be visiting point. Students produce videos with coverage of all proposed activities on schedule.

A student Eduarda Beatriz Mark, 13, is excited to make photos and videos of activities. “I’m already looking forward to the day comes. I’m training with the tablet to do interviews,” he says. She participated in the cover of Campus Party, in July this year, and has always had that interest in technology. “Two teachers saw that I had an interest, took photographs of the school, doing interviews. Thought it very good and I think a week of important technology because I learn more about computers and pictures,” he says.

According to Executive Secretary of Science, Technology and Development, Gustavo Barbosa, this year’s program focuses on cultural spaces in the city which are already in operation. “These new devices are still unknown to students. A Week serves to popularize and democratize scientific knowledge, trying to awaken that seed in the young child in the future, will become a citizen who contributes with their knowledge,” he says.

On Friday (17), also at the Center for Educator Training Teacher Paulo Freire, held the presentation of some work done by students involved in the activities and the display of videos produced by them during the event.
