Cohab test set built with Wood Frame Technology – Paraná-Online

A work of the housing program of the City is testing a new building system that speeds the production of affordable housing. The 66 units of the Houses Nile in Upper Boqueirão, are being built by a technology known as wood frame (wooden frame). The main advantage is the flexibility in implementation, since the method allows to build houses on time three times lower than in conventional masonry.

The technical director of the Popular Housing Company of Curitiba (Cohab), John Carlos Vianna, highlights the relevance of the search for innovative solutions in the housing sector. “The demand for affordable housing in the city is large, then it is very important to find new alternatives to speed up the construction progress. This new system, as well as others, will be an important contribution in this regard, “he explains.

The housing is designed for families who live at risk in Vila Nova, an irregular occupation located next to the bed works. “These are families that are living in precarious conditions in an improper location for housing. Let resettling them in new homes to improve quality of life for them, “says the president of Cohab, Ubiraci Rodrigues.

Technology

The house is constructed without the use of bricks. The system wood frame is a technology developed in Germany using wood from reforestation and thermal insulation with a mesh plastic bottles. The villa is built on a foundation radier , which is a concrete slab that replaces the conventional foundation and can also be used in masonry brick.

Upon foundation are installed panels that form the walls of the house and comes ready from the factory. Besides wood and mesh pet bottle, these panels also carry an asphalt mat to prevent infiltration and a cement board for durability. The hydraulic and electrical pipes already embedded within the pieces.

The construction method allows a house without a roof, is erected between two to three hours. In a week the house is ready to be inhabited after assembly of the roof structure, placement of tiles and finalization of internal and external finishes. “The forecast for the completion of construction of the Houses Nile is 120 days. In conventional methods the same work would take about a year to complete, “said Vianna.

In addition to speed, this building process has other advantages. “Tests showed that the thermal and acoustic comfort surpasses the conventional works. Already moisture control is done through a membrane that lets moisture pass only from the inside out. Whatever the weather, the house will have a good performance, both for thermal insulation, as the membrane that controls moisture, “explained José Márcio Fernandes, director of Tecverde, which owns the technology. The building system has approval of Caixa Economica Federal (which funds the work) and is also approved by the Ministry of Cities.

Sustainable

The new system features lower environmental impact, because it generates less waste, which ensures a building cleaner works. According to those responsible for construction, wood frame method reduces by 85% the amount of waste in the work. “Besides avoiding waste, the materials used are sustainable and generate very little environmental impact. I can say that is among the most sustainable technologies in the world under the ecological point of view, “says Fernandes.
