CDI Portugal Social Project takes young people to seek solutions in … – to the Minute News

The organization CDI Portugal is developing eight projects to promote social inclusion through the use of technology, where young people are encouraged to identify a problem in your school or district and to define a solution.

“We see what we have in common, school, street, neighborhood, what problems they identify an important part [of the project] is to empower these young people, who can make decisions, and the group itself is doing the work guided by us, then choose a “combat situation, said today the agency Lusa that the executive director non-governmental organization founded in Brazil and is already in 10 countries.

Pace following is chosen to analyze the situation and schedule a conversation with partners in the technological area “to learn how using the technology, we can combat this problem,” said John Baracho.

The official spoke on the subject of participation in Greenfest, an event which takes place on sustainability in Estoril from Thursday and will be presented in which two of the projects developed by CDI in Portugal.

One is developed by young Bela Vista in Setúbal, which will explain to students from schools as did their newspaper, another project is a group of Cacém, municipality of Sintra, which will announce its graffiti wall, “an initiative of art to prevent vandalism” .

The technology “can be as simple as learning the word or powerpoint to video editing, what matters is what the participants made to address the problem that sensed” John stressed Baracho.

“My wish is that they are potentially much more innovative things, but you can also do simple things,” he said.

In Musgueira, for example, another project was done editing a video, and the goal is that young people, victims of school leavers go to schools convey to younger why should not drop out of school.

In Bela Vista, by example, selected by the youth problem was the “bad image” of the neighborhood, despite the “good things” they did. In this case, they decided to edit an electronic newspaper to disseminate them.

Among the eight ongoing projects are still in the Vale de Cambra, the reception center of the Red Cross for children removed by Social Security to families, Santa Maria da Feira, with the city council, and in Cacém Laranjeiro, with two pilot initiatives with the Schools program, pilot Apps for Good (computer applications) in a school of Pleasantview, Setúbal, and another action in Costa da Caparica, with AMI.

The Apps for Good is an educational project that is about 400 schools in the UK and applies the same methodology as the CDI, but only in schools and to development of software applications for smartphones and tablets, to solve problems that young people identify.

The Director of Apps for Good, Debbie Forster, Greenfest will participate in and present the work done by this entity.
