The relationship of the state of santa catarina, Bruno Mena Cadorin, 29, with the environmentbegins long before the development of technology plasma cold, in the undergraduate course of Chemistry of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), in 2007. Was still a child that Cadorin saw up close the impact on pollution on rivers:

- In Nova Trento and nearby cities, has a polo textile strong and at that time, mainly, had the release of effluents without treatment into the river, which caused the death of fish and also the coloration that we saw, sometimes it was blue, yellow, red. I was with that in mind and always thinking what he could do to help – remember the now doctor in Chemistry, also from UFSC.

from this, he saw an area that I would like to work. A public school student, entered in the course in 2006 and decided that they wanted to have their own business:

- Always wanted to undertake but didn’t quite know what, but something connected to the environment. Because my father always had spoken to me that we had to leave a legacy to the world. Then I saw that the brazilian legislation in relation to the environment began to be more rigorous, which was a good business opportunity.

With plasma technology, cold that has started to develop still in college, saw an opportunity to stop the pollution of the effluents generated by, for example, by the textile industry. Since 2014, the startup that created it, the Wier, is incubated in the Technological Park Alfa Certi Foundation, Florianópolis. Today, the company has 15 professionals. The first line of machines, launched a year ago, and that uses the plasma technology cold for deodorising and sanitize environments, the company had sold around 600 units for the entire country.

The Wier is certified by the Technical Institute Spanish Cleaning to promote the deodorization and decontamination of environments. The models of these machines to do the sanitization of environments (elimination of odors and micro-organisms) cost of 1790 to 3990 real. Already the machines to treat liquid effluents, the startup will start selling, which uses the Plasma technology Cold cost from 250 thousand reais.

To understand

what is this technology?
is Considered the fourth state of matter, plasma is a gas of high energy and chemical reactivity. To generate this plasma, are applied to electrical discharges, such as those that take place when we have storms. Is a gas composed of ions, free radicals, ultraviolet radiation, in addition to the atoms excited. This plasma, when applied over a liquid effluent (for example, the water generated in the textile industry) is able to break down the molecules of pollutants. This kills bacteria, fungi, micro-organisms in general. This technology is called plasma cold.

Advantages:
is a way more sustainable to do the real treatment of the wastewater because i t acts directly on the cause of the pollution, without chemicals and without generating waste side, as the sludge.

Challenges: lower the cost of the machines plasma cold.
