Complete this sentence: “If you watch at Web Summit [7 to 9 November] in Lisbon, you have to leave free time for…”
Shake a hand to a stranger and introduce yourself. It is a conversation shared around a beer, a presentation, a round table, or a lively discussion about the last speaker in the queue for the burger lunch. Some people complain that technology is to drift apart from each other, even when the distances between the countries and the individuals are reduced to a whiff of smoke digital. We are more connected than ever through the Internet, Facebook, Weibo, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter, but it is fundamental that in the look in the eyes each other, to press the hands and in the present.

How is it that a small conference in Dublin – began in 2010, with 400 people – in little more than five years became the largest event in the technological world?
we Call it “engineering serendipismo”, is what leads people to inspire each other in a meeting. The conference’s traditional focus on manual scheduling of audiences sitting, and lists compiled of speakers and distribution manual of invitations, but we have a strategy completely different. We have developed algorithms that take into account the profile of the participant and with whom will benefit from having a meeting. We focus on help you to find the right ideas and the right people among the millions of conversations and connections possible. Our response is intimacy, driven by a large design scientific data and detailed. We apply this method to every little element of the Web Summit: the tapes with the id are individually designed, installed GoPros on the ceilings f or us to monitor the movement of the public and the size of the queues.

After the three editions of the Web Summit scheduled for Lisbon, which may be different in the middle of the Portuguese business in 2018?
it Is difficult to say. I hope that the presence of the Web Summit in Lisbon and the arrival in the city of thousands of prominent CEOs from the technology industry, journalists and the creators of startups speed up the Portuguese economy of the startups. We know that the profile and international reputation of Dublin were acquired by the Web Summit. Maybe we can repeat the same effect. But only time will tell.
