Cars of the future will be powered by Samsung (and not Apple) – Cash

After the hard collision caused by the problems on the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung is repositioning itself to be part of the technology of the future in the automotive industry. This morning, he is said to have invested 8 billion dollars (7.4 billion euros) for Harman International, a technology company linked to intelligent vehicles.

The automotive industry has slowly evolved. While the smartphones have given an evolutionary leap to give us information about anything we want, the dashboard of the car has little changed. But the industry is preparing to take the evolution and the major technological, such as Apple and Samsung, they want to get into the business.

Apple has released an interface called Car Play, three years ago, which allows you to view the screen of your iPhone on the dashboard of the car. In theory, because the car manufacturers are planning models to produce with a huge advance, so the first few cars to be included in the Car Play are on the list of equipment for the models in 2017.

Samsung may, with the acquisition of Harman International, eventually overtake Apple, since that technology is already in the ecosystem of the cars. In addition to producing telematic systems, that is, a sort of central communication that shares information about the operations of the vehicle with the outside world, such as emergency services or monitoring systems in traffic, Harman has your system of vehicles interconnected installed in 30 million vehicles. The goal of Samsung is to integrate these systems with the mobile phones the Galaxy, allowing the data between the vehicle and smartphone to circulate in both directions.

The competitor Apple may be, in fact, to see past the cars. In addition to Car Play, the only rumors related to the automobile industry relate to an interest in the McLaren, but without development. And the plans for an Apple Car have been already by the way.
