Technology will monitor the elderly 24 hours a day – Cities – Mail … – Mail in the Morning

Put new technologies at the service of the 3rd age and their caregivers is the idea that is at the basis of the project presented yesterday in Guimarães that you want to reach the more than 21 thousand individuals in the municipality, within a maximum period of three years. It is a technological device, developed by a local company, which the elderly can use to the neck and that keeps contactable 24 hours per day.

“The project aims to demonstrate that the use of the latest technologies to support formal and informal care provided under a home is the path that must be decisively beaten for the benefit of a community,” said the councilor of Social Action of the Chamber of Guimarães, Paula Oliveira.

With the new device, developed by a company of Guimarães, it will be possible to prevent and detect falls, find people to care for and the caregivers, define security zones, to log incidents automatically and issue requests for help.
