SIBS and Beta-i launch the first accelerator fintech – the Observer

THE SIBS – the entity that manages the multibanco payment in Portugal – will launch the first program in the Portuguese acceleration of companies working in the area of payments, in partnership with the association for the promotion of entrepreneurship in the Beta-i. Applications for the SIBS PayForward start on 7 November and will finish on the 31st January 2017.

The time has come to contribute to and catalyse some of that innovation to the ecosystem, a sort of pay it forward, to create this opportunity for more startups can help you innovate in the context of payment solutions or other financial solutions that are supported in information technologies," explains Madalena to Cascais Thomas, chief Executive of SIBS, in a statement.

The acceleration program lasts eight weeks, between early April and June 2017, and will have access to consultants from the SIBS, a platform of more than 200 mentors and more than 500 <> > > > > startups. The 10 finalists will participate in several workshops and counseling sessions, which are relevant to the development of the business model.

"The industry of payments is an area with a huge dynamism and innovation, which has been accelerated as a result of digitisation and technological revolutions. Has been a strong investment, about $ 3.7 billion in 2016, a growth of over 60% compared to the previous year," said Pedro Rocha Vieira, the leader and co-founder of Beta-i.
