Government invests R$ 6.4 billion in medicines and technology – Brazil Portal

The Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday (20), which will ensure the investment of R$ 6.4 billion to encourage the national production of medicines, inputs and technologies in health. The application of this feature will allow the generation of more than 7.4 thousand vacancies of skilled jobs; in addition to involve about 450 doctors specialized in the research to assist in the development of medicines and health products.

The largest part of the resource will be allocated to the production of medicines. Another will go to the construction of three factories to meet the demand of biological medicinal products are more complex, which account for 51% of the budget of medicines of the ministry. The investment will come from private initiative and, eventually, of public laboratories.

The three new factories will be part of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, the Butantan Institute and the Institute of Technology of Paraná (Tecpar) and will meet the demands of the biological in the Country. The partnerships in the area of biological provide for investments that will allow for the production of drugs for the treatment of people with cancer; serums against rabies and the bites of poisonous animals; and vaccines for influenza, hepatitis A, and HPV, for example.

In the investments announced by the minister of Health, Ricardo Barros, also are provided for R$ 740 million for the production of drugs targeted at rare diseases and neglected, which will allow the reduction of judicialization and the increase in the expansion of assistance and care for people living with these diseases.
