Brazilians buy 100 smartphones per minute

13.3 million smartphones were sold between April and June this year.

Fever by Brazilians of new mobile technologies and the increase in purchasing power caused Brazil to achieve a new world record. In the second quarter of this year, last sentence already completely analyzed, sold more than 100 smartphones per minute.

The data collection was done by the consulting firm International Data Corporation (IDC) which revealed that in April , May and June this year were 13.3 million smartphones sold, nearly 100 every minute.

The new figure represents a significant increase compared to the same period last year, with a rise of 22 % of sales. Also according to the survey from IDC, worldwide no other country has achieved a sales amount as impressive this time.

In contrast to the increased sales of smartphones, sales of simpler phones, chosen by consumers with lower incomes or who does not like technology, had a sharp drop. The 4.6 million common phones sold in Brazil in the same period, representing a decrease of 16% compared to the second quarter of 2013.
