The internet has become the primary means for seeking information destinations in the country, according to research from the Ministry of Tourism. Most foreigners (68.6%) who came to the World Cup organized the trip through the Internet, although some of them have bought packages of hotels and tourist services in travel agencies.

Attentive this change in the profile travel agent, teacher Marcelo Bispo, Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), spoke about the resistance of professionals to recognize technology as an ally, in a lecture at the National Meeting of Travel Agents of Ribeirão Black and Region (AVIRRP). Bishop also spoke about the need – and opportunity – to agencies migrate from the physical environment to the virtual world

The current scenario shows that tourists have already made their choices:. Currently, more than half of the tickets are sold by the websites of airlines and there are already good examples of travel agencies with a focus on Internet sales. It is for this reason that, according to Bishop, “the travel agent has to play the role of consultant.”

The augmented reality solutions that combine real information, like photos and videos, the graphics and information manipulated by computer, can make a difference in timing destinations to travelers. “The technology is getting cheaper and soon, someone will offer these services to agencies.”

The show opened on Friday (16), in Ribeirão Preto. The participation of the Ministry of Tourism in 18th AVIRRP – National Meeting of the Travel Agencies in Ribeirão Preto and Region, 15-16 August will focus on supporting commercialization of domestic destinations. Travel agents and 143 exhibitors will have the chance to close deals to boost the Brazilian domestic tourism in central Taiwan Events in Ribeirão Preto (SP).
