In September, Qualcomm announced its new technology to the Clear Sight that promises to improve considerably the quality of the captured photos especially on devices with dual camera – a new trend in the market. To earn this seal of quality of the Qualcomm it is necessary to adopt the Snapdragon 821 as the chipset and fulfill some requirements.
To take advantage of the technology, Clear Sight, the smartphone needs to have a set of lenses and sensors that have been approved by Qualcomm. Where each sensor will be responsible for different tasks, a technology that tries to simulate the human eye. In this way, we will have richer colors, and an increase in the capture of light up to 3x, according to the company.
Xiaomi announced on its official blog that the Mi 5 Plus is the first smartphone on the market to offer the technology Clear Sight of Qualcomm. The company explains that the device has a camera that captures the image colored while the other is only black and white images. Both have the same focal length, where the benefit of the second sensor would reduce the amount of noise in the images.
To remove the color filter of the secondary sensor, the technology Clear Sight ensures that three times more light to be captured by this sensor, in addition to a quantity considerably less noise. In this way, only these information are transmitted to the main sensor, thereby generating a color image more clear and clean.
Unfortunately, by not having dual camera, the Mi 5s has not received a Clear Sight of Qualcomm. The new smartphone from the chinese manufacturer was faced with the Galaxy S7 showing that this technology could show an end result completely different. Also we have already seen a comparison between the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus, which evidences the benefits of technology for Qualcomm.
