Already available in Portugal, the new Volvo S90 and V90 have, in the likeness of the SUV XC90, the Power Pulse in the engine-type D5 235 cv.
This technology, which is a worldwide innovation from Volvo, it has the effect to virtually eliminate the delay of the entry into operation of the turbo, starts from a situation with the vehicle stopped or when you press the throttle quickly at low rpm in first or second gear.
For this purpose, this technology uses a small electric compressor that compresses the air, which is then stored in a tank, being that, whenever the accelerator is pressed with the vehicle stopped, or pressed quickly when driving below 2000 rpm in first or second gear, the compressed air in the tank is released to the exhaust system, even before the entry into action of the turbocharger.
This causes the rotor of the turbine of the turbocharger to start all to run, with virtually no delay of entry into operation of the turbo and thus also the rotor of the compressor to which it is connected, completes the Swedish brand.
