in This Tuesday (18), 18h, happens the opening dthe 13th National Week of Science and Technology (SNCT). The minister of Science, Technology, Innovations, and Communications, Gilberto Kassab, will officially open the event and launches the first publication of the Global Network of Teaching, Research and Extension in Nutrition, Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security (Nutrissan). The Week occurs between days 17 and 23 October, with special activities in all of Brazil.

The theme of this edition of the SNCT – Science feeding the Brazil – aligns itself to the decision of the 68ª United Nations General Assembly to proclaim 2016 as International Year of Pulses (AIL).

in the Face of choice, the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communication (Mctic) has established a partnership with the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa) for outreach events and scientific education in all units of the institution, especially in Acre, Amapá and Tocantins.

MCTIC developed the tool in partnership with the National Network of Education and Research (RNP) and with the support of the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO). The idea is to connect researchers from various countries to improve the nutrition of people all over the world.

In 2015, to 2.6 thousand institutions are registered 147 thousand activities in 1.081 municipalities of all the states and the Federal District. Until Monday (17), the Week accounted for more than 15,6 thousand activities recorded by more than 1.6 thousand institutions of almost 400 cities.

Lectures and tribute

Monday (17) to Friday (21), MCTIC done a cycle of seminars around the theme of the SNCT 2016, and issues such as information technologies and infrastructure of research institutes. There will be talks of experts from Embrapa, Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz), IBM, and the ministry itself.

The main event, in homage to the agronomist, Johanna Döbereiner, is scheduled for Wednesday (19), at 14h30, at the Museum of Astronomy and Related Sciences (Mast) in Rio de Janeiro.

The National Week of Science and Technology always happens in the month of October, since 2004, under the national coordination of Mctic, and seeks to mobilize the scientific community and the student, in particular children and young people, around topics and activities of science and technology (s&T).

event values creativity, scientific attitude and innovation; calls the attention of the society to the relevance of the C&T for the life of each one, and for the development of the Country; and contributes to the population can meet and discuss research and its applications.

The proposal is that events have a language that is accessible, innovative ways that stimulate curiosity and motivate the public to deepen their interest.
