The limits on the expansion of the IT – Administrators

We are in the new era of business, one was more global, interconnected and flexible than ever, thanks to technologies and trends such as cloud, SaaS and BYOD, among others. And I don’t need to say that all of this is made possible by TI. But what impact does this have on the role of the IT professional?

In summary, as you well know, the scope of the role of the IT professional has evolved, expanding beyond the limits of the devices owned by the company and the technology on site. In essence, as today the work is carried out in all the places, IT is in all places.

In fact, new research from the SolarWinds demonstrate the increasing responsibility that is being placed on the IT professional and modern. In general, the results show how today, more than ever, end users are connecting devices to corporate networks (including devices of personal property), by relying on cloud applications and working outside of traditional offices. All of these trends take the control and governance of IT departments; however, the research also shows that the demands on IT professionals to support and ensure the performance of these technologies are high. The result is responsibility without authority.

With the Day of the IT Professional this year almost upon us (October 19), these findings are particularly timely, since it emphasizes the need for greater appreciation of you, professionals of the whole world, and the essential role they play not only in modern business, but in the lives of almost all end users of the technology.

With this in mind, let us go deeper in the study, which consists of two searches: the first focuses on the perspectives of end-users related to the evolution of the technological landscape of business and the role of professionals in it, while the second focuses on the point of view of the professionals. See the key results:

increasingly more end users in Brazil are connecting to a varied set of electronic devices, including devices personal, to corporate networks.

· 57% of the end users of the USA says that connects more devices, whether personal or company, the corporate networks today than ten years ago, an average of four or more per user.
· 57% of end users say that connecting personal devices to corporate networks today than ten years ago, an average of three more per user.
· 80% of the end users says that connects a laptop computer/desktop to corporate networks, 69% a smartphone and 29% a tablet.
· 37% of the end users connects electronic devices that are less common to corporate networks, such as loud-speakers, Bluetooth, media players, streaming, technology, wearable, and eReaders.

increasingly, the technology th at end users depend on is outside of the local infrastructure of its employees and includes cloud-based applications and resources used outside of the office.

· 60% of the IT professionals of the world over claims that their organizations allow/facilitate the use of cloud-based applications; 71% also estimates that end users use, at least occasionally, applications in the cloud is not authorized by IT.
· 82% of end users admit the use of these applications (both the authorized and the unauthorized by IT) in the workplace.
· 77% of end users say that you tend to use apps related to work outside of the office, either on devices of the company, or on devices themselves.

Despite the increasing use of external technology, end users still blame the professionals for the performance of them.

· 62% of IT professionals stated that the expectation to support the personal devices of users connected to corporate networks is much higher than ten years ag o, while 76% of end users expect that the IT professionals of their employers to ensure the performance of this type of device.
· 43% of IT professionals say that users expect, at the same time, the resolution of problems between the technology and the personal devices and the company.
· 87% of end users expect that the IT professionals of their employers to ensure the performance of cloud-based applications used in the work, and 56% claimed that, when these applications do not work as expected, it is the fault of the professionals.
· 64% of IT professionals say that users expect, at the same time, the resolution of problems with cloud-based applications and local applications (those managed directly by IT).
· 72% of end users expect applications to work used out of the office to work on the same level and receive the same type of support of the professionals of their employers, while 83% of IT professionals say that provides such support at least occasionally.
To conclude, companies are more than ever breaking through the barriers of traditional IT beyond the limits of the organization. IT is in all places, and, as a result, the expectation is that you ensure continuous availability and to optimize the performance of all devices and applications, many of which you do not control. All sectors have felt the impact of a greater reliance on technology, but none of them like the own the IT sector.

Therefore, in the name of SolarWinds, thank you.

And if you are a business leader or other end user of technology, do not forget to demonstrate in person his gratitude to the professionals of your trust.
