Future food: technology allows cooking with a … – Tudocelular.com

Have you thought about preparing your dinner connecting the 3D printer instead of stove or microwave? Well, researchers from Colombia University in the United States, are working on this possibility since last year.

A machine that literally prints the food in different shapes, flavors and textures is already being tested by a team of engineers and designers, led by Professor Hod Lipson. The scholar, however, warns that this kind of “kitchen” is highly experimental and still has some shortcomings:

The printed food will not take the place of traditional cuisine, as it is not possible to cook with all the nutrients we need and all we should eat.

Professor Lipson, a mechanical engineer by training, believes that this type of technology can revolutionize the world in a short time because of its universal application. Now the challenge is to rely on the collaboration of chefs to improve food testing.

For now, the prototype works through software where you can “draw” the food that is printed with edible pastes, gels , powders and liquid ingredients. Not surprisingly, most of the testing work with sweets and still cold.

See a short demonstration of the digital food:

The 3D technology has been used in different areas, such as reconstruction of animal members and construction . Even a Pokédex can print with some cartridges, as the developer has made the molds.
