The Senko, one of the largest companies in the world logistics solutions, Riverbed Steelhead adopted, Steelhead Mobile and a virtual version of Riverbed SteelCentral Controller for steelhead. With these basic elements that are part of Riverbed Application Performance Platform, Senko able to reduce the traffic of the long distance network (WAN) by 88%, eliminating the need to purchase or lease bandwidth and accelerate application response time e-mail by 38 times.

“To expand worldwide, a company needs a high quality network connectivity. Installing the technology Riverbed gave us momentum for growth, one of the pillars of our management plan. When the Senko sets new world for performance venues, we must be prepared to respond to consumers and provide them services with the highest value. This means that the systems and IT infrastructure should work perfectly. The Riverbed is the key for this to happen, “said Shigeyuki Tanaka, general manager of Management Production Division in Senko.

Headquartered in Japan, Senko helps optimize the supply chain to the customer from procurement to product delivery through technology. When the company installed a new logistics system in 2000, it ceased to be a comprehensive logistics company and became a company of logistics solutions that meets the specific needs of enterprise customers. The Senko has around 400 Japanese offices and 33 worldwide, with more on the way. As has been expanding throughout Asia, the Americas and other regions, the Senko presented new collaboration software to create a worldwide information infrastructure. In any case, the hybrid network complexities have resulted in slower application performance in other countries and some nearby locations. In most instances, users were unable to use the collaboration software and its adoption did not progress as expected, resulting in an inefficient communication between offices.

To resolve this problem, Senko could have increasing the network bandwidth at a high cost, about $ 65 million for five years by a line of 8 Mbps, or have used a hybrid WAN acceleration solution. Senko chose the Steelhead, Steelhead Mobile for hand-mobile workforce and the SteelCentral Controller after internal tests have pointed out that this solution increased the average application response time email by 38 times.

Senko also had reduced WAN traffic by 88%, resulting in an additional adoption of the company’s collaboration applications, contributing to providing more information sharing and consensus by the company. The Senko also concluded that the SteelCentral Cotroller for steelhead gave them a better understanding of network obstacles, allowing the company to take preventive measures before end users would notice such application performance issues. The product helped Senko the best capitalize on your virtual environment, which supports the mobile device. Managing this environment is now simpler, uses less electricity and requires less IT infrastructure.
