National Week of Science and Technology begins on Wednesday … – Ceará

From this Wednesday (17) until Friday (19), happens to Ceará Exhibition Makes Science, with various activities that will demonstrate in practice that Science and Technology mode can be applied as a tool for innovation and social development. The event will mark the completion of the National Week of Science and Technology (SNCT) in Ceará. The exhibition is free and will be held at Hotel Oasis Atlantico in Fortaleza (Avenida Beira-Mar, 2500 – Meireles) from 09 am to 17 hours. It is an achievement of the State Government, through the Department of Science, Technology and Higher Education (Secitece), which coordinates the SNCT in Ceará.

The event will feature a varied program. In the field of assisti ve technologies, the University of Digital Work (UTD) will demonstrate the use of a computer screen reader that facilitates learning for people with visual impairments. “In a reality in which a braille printer costs $ 20,000, the most viable way to produce and consume information is using the computer,” explains Professor John Bosco Farias, who uses the platform to deliver the Digital Starter course geared to people with visual disabilities in UTD.

Another solution to the inclusion to be shown in the exhibit is a cane able to capture information coupled to a tactile floor and send them in audio to a smartphone. The technology entitled “Digital Path” can be used in airports, shopping malls and other places difficult to drive for those who are blind. The project will be presented by the Federal Institute of Ceará (IFCE).

The National Week of Science and Technology – Ceará Makes Science Exhibition will also include the participation of Technological Vocational Centers of Centec Institute, which will take several promotional materials about the actions, and projects such as the Sustainable Solar Metro, Virtual Learning Object , Dramatic Arts in Elementary Education, Manta Thermal Insulation with Tetra Pak boxes and even math lab practices.

The technologies aimed at learning can be seen also in educational robotics projects for young people in the Information and Communication Technology Institute (ITIC), which stimulate the interest for technical and engineering areas and can be performed with low cost in public schools .

The Digital Corridors project will promote a round of picthes – short presentations where young people served by the project will have to win the interest of those present for their innovative business. Those selected will have their incubated companies on behalf of Digital Runners for 12 months.

The National Week of Science and Technology – Ceará Exhibition Makes Science will feature the participation of other institutions such as Gabgov, STDS, Funceme, Nutec, FUNCAP, Sea Dragon and Unifor. The event will be held in conjunction with the State Fair of Science and Culture of Seduc. The opening day will be on December 17, Wednesday, at 18.30.

Ceará has achieved national prominence in all editions of SNCT. In 2013, about 5000 visitors attended the fair, which took place in Arena Castelao. All municipalities are encouraged to carry out activities during the week. In Fortaleza, the activities this year will be concentrated at the Hotel Oasis.
