Mercedes-Benz reveals advanced digital technology of lighting – automonitor

While rivals Audi and BMW have been investing in advanced systems that headlights laser, Mercedes-Benz decided to innovate and take a different path, revealing its new lighting technology advanced digital – 'Digital Light’ – that will be adopted by its future models.

According to the German brand, the new technology relies on 'micromirrors', with each beacon to display about a million small mirrors that work in conjunction with a camera and with sensors for radar to change the distribution of the lighting depending on each situation.

Each microespelho has an independent movement and can at the same time, that lights up the road, to avoid dazzling other drivers coming in the opposite direction. The format of the lighting can even be variable depending on the situation and the intention, creating, according to the brand, the patterns on the asphalt like a carpet.

This light system digital consists of a total of 8,192 diodes LED in the total of the two headlights and “will be on the road in the near future”, escusando the Mercedes-Benz to reveal an exact date.
