Tesla nightmare: another car accident on autopilot – Daily News – Lisbon

Tesla Motors again became the target of criticism after it was revealed that there was another accident involving a car with autopilot system

in the second accident, which occurred on Saturday in Montana, United States, there were no fatalities, unlike what happened in May, when the driver died.

the car involved this accident was a Tesla model X, a model launched this year, which crashed while on autopilot mode and hit a pole. The driver and the other car occupants escaped unharmed, according to Autocar but the vehicle was badly damaged.

The Tesla claims that the accident was due to human error, not a technical failure, because ” system warns the driver to return to get their hands on the steering wheel, but it decided not to obey. ” The terms of use of these vehicles advises drivers to always have your hands on the steering wheel when the autopilot mode is enabled.

The Tesla does not recommend the use of autopilot at high speeds or on roads without central divisions, because the software is not prepared to avoid collisions with objects on the road. Digital Trends website states that Tesla has constantly reminded that the autopilot mode is still in beta, that is not finalized, and that its use does not mean that drivers can stop paying attention to the road.

Elon Musk, chief executive of the company admits, however, that there may be a lack of information on the proper use and operation of the autopilot.

Last month, the company said it will keep the autopilot system, which is already called by some “the Achilles heel of Tesla,” as it is the most secure.

“This is the first fatality in more than 130 million miles in the ‘autopilot’ was on. Among all the vehicles of the United States, there is a fatality every 94 million miles,” the company said on its website, referring to the accident of May, where the driver died when his car crashed into a truck.

Elon Musk said the owners of electric cars Tesla need more education to use the technology.
