Nissan Serena premiere technology ‘ProPilot’ autonomous direction – Network (Blog)

Nissan announced on July 13 that the new Serena, scheduled to go on sale in Japan in late August, will come equipped with autonomous driving technology company ProPILOT, offering convenience and tranquility in mobility on highways.

ProPILOT is a revolutionary autonomous driving technology, designed for use on single track roads. Nissan is the first Japanese automaker to introduce this combination of driving, acceleration and braking to be operated completely automatically, facilitating the work performed by the driver in heavy traffic roads and long commutes.
Using advanced image processing technology, the ProPILOT system understands car traffic and the road situations and precisely controls the driving of the vehicle, allowing the performance is natural.

The ProPILOT technology is extremely easy to use thanks to a switch on the steering wheel that allows the driver to easily activate and deactivate the system. The interface easy to understand and appropriate to the direction of ProPILOT includes a personal display that shows the status of operations.

The accelerator, brake and driving the vehicle is controlled based on information obtained by a monocâmera, equipped with an advanced image processing software. The ProPILOT camera can quickly recognize three dimensions the distance between nearby vehicles and marking tracks on the track.
Once activated, ProPILOT automatically controls the distance between the vehicle and the vehicle is in front, using a pre-defined driver speed (ranging from 30km / h to 100 km / h). The system also keeps the car in the middle of the track to read the markings of tracks and control the direction, even in curves.

brakes and acceleration are automatic

the system automatically activates ProPILOT the brakes to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. After reaching the full stop, the vehicle remains in place, even the foot of the driver is not on the brake pedal. Once ready to return to drive, the ProPILOT is activated when the driver actuates the switch again or lightly press the accelerator. Nissan is developing intensive studies about driving conditions in various regions, so that the ProPILOT fits in various market conditions that will be released. The system was developed in search of an easy technology to use.
