200,000 hours: know the lab where the technology … – Digital Look

Even if we know that the technology infrastructure to make the Olympics is monumental, during the Games, no one wants to talk technology. Athletes, competitions and visitors are much more important in the biggest sporting event on the planet. The technology does not show any, but needs to work extremely reliably and securely to ensure that the party does not stop

This way, nobody wants to hear:. “But what if …”; there is no room for error. Anyway, if during the Olympic Games any incident involving technology happen to scoreboards, broadcasting, telecommunications or whatever it is, is this great room that the problem will be solved – preferably as soon as possible so that there is no greater effect in the Olympics operation.

to avoid surprises during the Games, an Integration Test Lab was set up here at the Olympic Rio 2016. the operation is standard throughout the Olympics. In this room with more than 1,200 square meters have been tested one by one each system, application and technology infrastructure for the dissemination of results and the completion of the competitions. With over 200 people working nonstop, were 200,000 hours of testing. – A milestone in the history of the Olympic Games

During the Games, all equipment tested inside will be taken to the premises of the competitions. A curious fact is that this will be the last time the Test and Integration Laboratory will be located in the host city of the Olympic Games

Another change for the next Games. – The winter in 2018, Pyeongchang in South Korea – is that the system of results and dissemination of information is already running in the cloud. For now, here in Rio, for stability, safety and security, everything will be stored in local physical datacenters. Again: no one wants to take risk
