President of Galp points price volatility and technology … – Observer

In addition to the volatility of oil prices, Galp Energia faces the challenge of technological innovation potential to change the industry’s business model, said the CEO of the company, Carlos Gomes da Silva.

“One of our challenges is to anticipate disruptions in this industry in terms of concepts or technologies that may affect the business model,” he said on Wednesday night in London during a dinner sponsored by the Portuguese Center Studies (CPE).

Carlos Gomes da Silva said he was confident that it is the technology that could be not only the key to some future projects, as well as to respond to a potential prolonged crisis low of oil.

Given the hypothetical scenario of the price per barrel to stay for $ 30 (instead of about 45 today), said that the technology would be a solution to this problem.

“we would be more efficient, the margin [profit] would be smaller and the technology would increase dramatically,” he stressed, adding that, however, does not agree with that projection.

in the financial prospects of the company, is expected the price of Brent crude oil rise gradually to 70 dollars per barrel in 2020.

the manager spoke to a group of Portuguese professionals in the UK, based on the theme “my language is my homeland” from the perspective of business strategy.

in this sense, he said the growth potential that Galp Energia presents today is due to investment in Portuguese-speaking countries, particularly Brazil, Angola and Mozambique.

Galp is also present in other Portuguese-speaking countries, such as Sao Tome and Principe, East Timor, Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde.

“we will continue to develop our presence in these markets. We feel more comfortable in Brazil than, for example, in Uganda, “explained.

The CPE regularly organizes dinners with Portuguese speakers, and in the past invited the former Minister of Finance Maria Luis Albuquerque, former Secretary of State and now European Commissioner Carlos coins or the former economy minister, António Pires de Lima.

to the end of May or early June is scheduled to receive the former Brazilian president Fernando Henrique Cardoso, which will focus intervention on the influence of language, in this case in politics.

later, Carlos coins will return to reflect on the outcome of the British referendum or while the European Union on 23 June.
