Goal-line technology will be in force in Euro2016 – Journal News

About UEFA chose the goal-line technology developed by Hawk-Eye company to equip the ten stages of the Euro2016 in France, announced on Tuesday, the governing body of European football.

UEFA authorized in January the use of GLT (diminutive of English ‘goal-line technology’, ie goal-line technology) that had been introduced in 2012 by FIFA, followed by four major European leagues, including England, Italy, Germany and France.

This technology allows you to check through cameras, if the ball actually crossed the goal line, it helps to complement the work of the arbitration team of five elements already used by UEFA.

“the goal-line technology and the referees [next to the goal] complement each other perfectly,” said Pierluigi Collina, head of UEFA’s referees.

the technology developed by Hawk -Eye will also be used in the next European Supercup, between the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League, and in the next seasons Champions League, UEFA added.
