3D technology, a new opportunity for the animal kingdom – Pplware

Over the centuries it has been the man responsible for the extinction and destruction of some species of living beings on the planet. According to the Center for Biological Diversity, human activities are responsible for 99% of species at risk of extinction.

But the man destroys the species may also be responsible for their recovery where 3D technology has a say

 3d turtle

Already several times we reported clinical cases where aids were created for patients through 3D printers. This technology has brought medicine to the detail and the detail in prostheses that until then, it was more difficult to achieve, a lot faster.

This is a reality that is also applied to the animal world

There are some best known, like the turtle who received a shell or another that received a jaw, both prostheses created by 3D printers.

toucan

One of the other cases, which expresses the human cruelty to animals is that of a toucan in Costa Rica that was targeted of mistreatment by local children and eventually won a new nozzle thanks to a collective investment campaign and the four local companies related to 3D printing.

After several successful cases, the goal of many researchers It is able to bring this technology to the animal world endangered.

But it is not prostheses spoken print only. There is also talk of capturing images in three dimensions and the creation of other objects that would assist the recovery of the species.

3D image capture through drones

Know and explore the natural habitat of some species it is not easy in many cases where there are many dangerous wild species and where Man, to achieve, will have to necessarily destroy or interfere negatively on the environment.

In this case there are the drones can capture images and make faithful reconstitution in 3 habitat dimensions of some species.

This technology is already being used, for example, in Namibia wild reserve where, through the 3D images is being constructed a reservation to save black rhinos in Africa that are being threatened by poaching.

Creating a 3D map of the various forests around the world could mean a much more efficient control of the species and the impact of climate change, for example, patterns of growth forests. Communication between the different researchers will be itself also more efficient.

3D technology in the fight against poaching

Also in relation to black rhinos there are research teams to create replicas of the horns of these animals in order to flood the market with this material, with a way to combat poaching that is to end this species. The idea is to create faithful replicas of the horns in 3D in order to not be room in the market for the purchase of the criminal material.

The same applies to other species that have endured over the last few years in the hands of hunters and traders of these most valuable illegal materials, such as furs or ivory.

The road ahead is still long and it is expected that by the end objective of any kind is extinguished by fault of our practices.
