“A large part of the new lamps are equipped with remote management technology, allowing control from a distance of light intensity in periods of lower nightlife and social need, consolidating lower consumption, longer lamp life, better performance, better control and stabilization of the components, “said the council, in a statement sent today to Lusa.
The upgrading of street lighting in Espinho municipality will be completed later this year, he said.
The council explained that the intervention covers “pedestrian zones and areas with low-speed traffic, urban areas, part of Anta parish and main road access to Espinho county”.
The upgrading of street lighting holds themselves with the “heavy burden”, with the intervention begun by the areas of the county with the highest power density installed which corresponds, in general, to urban areas, it said.
The Mayor of Thorn, Pinto Moreira, he considered this work “fundamental” to the city’s quality of life, translated in better lighting, an “excellent” use of Community funds, improving the energy and environmental performance.
“With this operation we give our contribution to the fulfillment of the Action Plan for Promoting Sustainable Energy in northern Portugal, “he added.
The contract exceeds 700 000 euros, with comparticipada to 85% by the Fund cohesion and 15% by the municipality.
