The Telegraph tested phase two of Cities Unlocked, a Microsoft project that uses advanced GPS and smartphone technology to help the blind to around the city independently.
It tells the newspaper that technology not only guides people to their destination, as it helps to understand exactly where they are and their relationship with popular sites.
The technology uses an accelerometer a gyro, compass and columns in different parts of the headphones to give the impression of various sounds from different directions.
