During 150 years, the elevators were limited to walk up or down, but now there is a German company that wants to give more directions to the elevators and have also walk sideways.
Thyssenkrupp will present this Thursday, November 5, one magnet-based technology that will allow the elevators move also horizontally, left and right, writes Bloomberg.
This system, which ThyssenKrupp wants to introduce will be able to move booths lifts in different directions. The company will introduce this system on Thursday in Gijon, Spain, with a miniature model of 10 meters.
This technology is dubbed magnetic levitation, is based on high-speed trains and is independent cables. The German company says that this system allows for various booths lifts on the same axis, which can increase the capacity of the elevators by 50%.
The industrial group has done studies in the German town of Rottweil, a tower of 246 meters, which eventually will open to the public. ThyssenKrupp explains that this technology is ideal for buildings over 300 meters.
“The concept is convincing,” said an analyst at German bank Commerzbank Ingo Martin Schachel. “If the technology conceivably be available in the market at competitive prices, can offer great opportunities,” he said.
With the world’s population moving to cities and buildings to become higher and higher ThyssenKrupp is investing in elevators, a segment that accounts for over half of the company’s profits, according to Bloomberg.
The German company, which says it has received about 30 expressions of interest by technology, ensures that “the era of dependent lifts cables over.”
