Girls are present in Challenge of Science and Technology – Universia Brazil

girl’s place is … in Science! This week came the Challenge of Technology and Innovation of the Federal Institutes , in Porto Velho, Rondonia, and the girls dominated the competition. Who visited the arena of the event encountered several groups of young scientists, such as the Federal Institute team of Education, Science and Technology of Paraná (IFPR), which is formed only by girls. In total, 200 women participated in the Challenge , which had the support of the Secretariat of Vocational and Technological Education (SETEC) of the Ministry of Education (MEC).

it was the passion for Science that made the students Maiaria Silva and Julia Christina, from Curitiba, change technical course in their schools. Before accounting students, the two opted to transfer to the integrated technical course in mechanics, in 2016. “The girls now are interested in high-tech themes , such as robotics,” says Maiara, in an interview with the MEC Portal.

Maiara, Julia and another colleague, Eleonora Avello, form the Hakuna Matata team. The three friends were from south to north of the country to participate in the competition. To finance the trip, the young scientists raised money with entrepreneurial activities such as lectures on robotics.

The next wish the class is part of the Olympiad Robotics (OBR) , which will take place in Recife in October. “We will continue promoting activities to raise funds and allocate the entire amount for IFPR the team to qualify for the national phase of the OBR, whether or not our team.” He said Maiara the MEC.

In this edition of Technology and Innovation Challenge competed girls on Line Follower mode, in which to create a robot that can go a marked path, with an obstacle course.
