This is another day that the Internet is filled with references to the trilogy Back to the Future and its Skateboards flying. Lexus, a subsidiary of car manufacturer Toyota has revealed the details of hoverboard – or flying surfboard. – That already published a very short video just over a month

Videos now published by Lexus show a board, capable of hovering a few feet off the ground, to be used in a huge Spot with a skater professional – with ramps descents, heels, slide at banisters and falls included. Some of the plans show the plank to walk on a surface with water.

Along with the statement, Lexus said the technology and revealed the development process, which lasted over a year. As already anticipated in June, the board is far behind the science fiction movie: only works in a structure designed for the purpose, such as the Spot built by Lexus around Barcelona and hiding under the concrete surface a magnetic rail, essential if the board is suspended in the air. Although the Lexus has tried to reveal very little when he published the first video in June, the now shown filming are not a complete novelty: the park, while still under construction, has already been discovered by a Spanish website about Skateboards and the images ended up circulating on the Internet even before the official release.

The magnetic levitation technique that Lexus appealed has been used for many years in trains, countries like Germany and Japan, for example. The concept has now been miniaturized. The board has 32 blocks of superconducting material, placed in liquid nitrogen reservoir that cools to a temperature of 197 degrees Celsius. Liquid nitrogen must be reset regularly (if the board heat, crashes), but white smoke caused by nitrogen aid futuristic look. The surface, as happens with some skateboards Traditional is made of bamboo. The set weighs 11.5 kilos.

As far as was announced, the board will not be put up for sale and Lexus has no plans to enter a new line of business. The Skateboards is a publicity stunt flying. And while there are many people on the Internet say be disappointed with the board, the brand managed to at least a torrent of articles like this.
