Daimler will invest three billion euros in diesel technology “clean” stressed this Friday, May 27, the car manufacturer, in a statement.

The goal is to reduce the levels of pollution caused by diesel by modifying engines and exhaust systems, including a software update for some Mercedes-Benz cars.

This investment includes an amount of 2.6 billion euros announced in February. Daimler Mercedes-Benz will equip all diesel cars in Europe with technologies to reduce emissions as well as particulate filters in gasoline cars.

The German company was one of the target in the scandal emissions that “took” several sector companies. The company has advanced in April, with an internal investigation on the certification of emissions of its cars in the United States at the request of US authorities.
