UN provides technology for early diagnosis of Zika – EXAME.com

Vienna – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Thursday it will give the countries of the Latin America and Caribbean specialized nuclear technology for early detection of infections Zika virus.

the technique used for the detection is known as RT-PCR in of the molecular diagnostics field and, according to the IAEA, has already been successfully used in the ebola outbreak in West Africa in 2014.

the assistance includes RT-PCR equipment, consumer goods and technical assistance, as well as training on how to use this technology for detecting viruses and differentiate it from others, such as dengue and chikungunya.

the IAEA said that from March will offer courses in your laboratory Seibersdorf, outside Vienna, experts from 28 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean who wish to train in the use of RT-PCR. EFE
